One of our most familiar fruits is papaya. One of its special features is that it can be eaten as a fruit and also as a vegetable. Papaya is very popular due to its excellent nutritional value. Regular consumption of papaya removes nutritional deficiencies in the body.
Papaya contains protein, carbohydrates, fiber, potassium, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B9 and plenty of antioxidants.
It also contains small amounts of magnesium, calcium, vitamin E, vitamin K and some B vitamins.
Let’s find out whether raw papaya is more beneficial than ripe papaya:
Indian nutritionist Ishani Gangopadhyay said, ‘Whether raw papaya is eaten cooked or boiled, it has a lot of nutritional value.
Raw papaya contains an enzyme called papain that helps digest complex proteins like meat. Not only that, eating raw papaya regularly will eliminate gas and indigestion problems.’
Ishani said that ripe papaya has sufficient amount of vitamin C. Due to this, eating this fruit regularly will increase immunity.
Ripe papaya also contains a polyphenol called percetin, which helps reduce inflammation. Also, various beneficial ingredients in papaya can increase the level of good cholesterol in the body. Therefore, regular consumption of ripe papaya is expected to reduce heart related complications.
This nutritionist said that the nutritional value of ripe and unripe papaya cannot be separated. Rather, if you want to stay healthy, both raw and ripe papaya should be kept in your diet.
